After a tumultuous June, Jake Arrieta confirmed that he has found his groove in the month of July. The veteran was stellar, allowing three hits in seven scoreless frames, keeping Miami’s hitters off balance all night long and leading the Phillies to a shutout win at Marlins Park. Wei-Yin Chen nearly matched the former Cy Young Award winner — his only mistake coming on a two-out RBI double by Aaron Altherr in the second inning. Maikel Franco added an insurance run with a solo homer in the ninth. The Marlins missed a scoring opportunity when Derek Dietrich crushed a pinch-hit double to deep right, but Cameron Maybin was thrown out at the plate.
